the popular website airbnb has just launched their own iphone application that allows users to browse properties, make reservations and even asses their own space. the website only began in 2008 when it was co-founded by designboom collaborator joe gebbia along with brian chesky and nathan blecharczyk. the site connects people with rooms with people who are looking for a place to stay. since then, the three have grown the site to worldwide acclaim, with rooms available in 8,000 cities in 166 countries. the iphone app adds further functionality to the service, including special discounts, featured unique properties and all the features found on the web service. gebbia told designboom, “i spent months designing it alongside some talented designers/developers here at airbnb hq in san francisco.’ he added that he and the airbnb team think ‘designers will enjoy the amount of detail we put into the app’. in only two years this small company with a simple mission has really set their plan into action as you can see from our original coverage at their launch.
