aerial photography is no longer exclusive to high-budget film crews, thanks to airselfie. as the world’s smallest portable drone camera for selfies, the device measures just 3.72 x 2.65 centimeters and has an integrated 5MP video camera. with its tiny fan propellers powered by brushless motors, the camera can fly as high as 20 meters in the air. the device comes with an inbuilt 4GB micro SD card to store your photos, and when pictures are taken with the camera they sync directly onto your phone via its self-generated 2.4GHz wifi network. you might want to read designboom’s TECH predictions for 2017.

the team behind airselfie look to break the assumption that fly camera drones are expensive, bulky and difficult to control. airselfie has a sleek, italian design inherited from co-founder eduardo scroppiana that redefines what an aerial camera should look like, in turn making it elegant and easy to use. the microdrone weighs a bare 52g, thanks to its anodized aluminum casing.

the tiny drone comes with a phone case, into which you can slot the device to keep it safe. the cover also contains an inbuilt power bank, which tops up the drone’s battery whilst on the move. the device is integrated with its own app, so instead of a remote, your smartphone is used to steer the camera by using a ‘virtual joystick,’ to take selfies, or by turning your phone sideways to hold it like a regular controller. the drone aims to minimize blur and shake for amateur aerial photographers, with its vibration-absorber system and stability camera.

as the only pocket-sized drone camera that integrates with your smartphone, airselfie lets you see your daily life from a different perspective, and wants to bring aerial photography to the masses. as part of a growing number of convenience-orientated drone cameras, the airselfie is the sleekest one yet (you also might want to read about the selfly phone case, we’ve published earlier this year)
