particle is an interactive light installation by the audiovisual artist alex posada. the piece was created at the barcelona artist workshop hanger and uses a slew of custom electronics including xbee wireless devices. the sculpture responds to its environment translating movements into colour and sound. the design is composed of a stand mounted with a series of rings covered in led lights that rotate around the central axis. the piece senses the movements nearby and adjusts its form and movement accordingly. as such the piece is always evolving and its movements cannot be predetermined. the piece creates elaborate 3d forms through the spinning process.
