electric alfa romeo tonale concept sculpted to the beauty of the human body

as their first plug-in hybrid, the alfa romeo tonale concept debuts at the 2019 geneva motor show. the compact SUV combines electrification with the brand’s unique, distinctive italian styling. sculpted with the essence of art, this design composes the harmony of their racing heritage with anticipation for the future.

the alfa romeo tonale concept has been designed through the care of human touch whilst being inspired by the beauty and nuances of the human form itself. bold and elegant exterior volumes are paired with pure lines. at the front, ‘3 plus 3’ forward lights flank the signature grille, which is the focal point for the car’s fluidity and pouncing stance silhouette. the rear is defined by an enveloping window that is complemented by the suspended wing. here, the rear lighting creates the impression of an artistic signature. to complete the design, the 21-inch wheels feature a ‘phone dial’ aesthetic reminiscent of the 1960s.

the dynamism of the exterior continues inside the car as well. pure, sculpted forms create a driver oriented cabin that evokes emotions from alfa romeo’s history of racing. these feelings continue with the contrasts of rich materials, such as cold aluminum combined with soft, welcoming warmth of leather and alcantara. their latest technology ensures the driver and passengers have a connected, comfortable and dynamic user experience. a 12.3-inch full digital cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen central head unit are integrated to alfa’s new lifestyle and social communities, which offer latest gathering and performance upgrade news.

as a new step for the brand, the concept car aims to still provide the best driving experience with electrification. alfa romeo has reinterpreted its DNA to ensure this harmony between beauty, energy, efficiency and driving user-friendliness. their ‘advance E’ mode delivers full electric performance; ‘dual power’ uses the maximum output from the two engines; and ‘natural’ mode optimizes performance between the electric and combustion motors.

  • Looks wonderful and it is a testament to the talent of the designers, engineers and project managers but given the precarious state of the planet, on a scale of 1 to 1,000 answer me this – about how much do we need a new SUV (of any size)?
I wonder if there could there be a more globally beneficial outcome for the energies of such an energetic and imaginative brand?

    ABrocklehurst says:
  • I like Alfa’s efforts. I like the counterpoint of the excess chrome on most SUVs. However, I would be quite wary (similarly with any LRJ product) of living beyond one hour of a dealer …’minimum lease only please’.

    Jimmy Xi says:
  • The ashtray should be an optional….the drivers of an Alfa Romeo don’t have time to smoke…..this was the answer To my complaint about the position of the ashtray in my Alfetta
