amazon announces that its first ‘prime air’ drone delivery service in cambridge, UK, was a success. one year following the first demonstration of the unmanned air delivery service, ‘prime air’ delivered a TV streaming stick plus a bag of popcorn to the garden of a nearby customer directly, quite different to the cargo inside the first ever recorded air delivery.

the latest test highlights amazon’s intention to improve the safety and reliability of it’s service from depot to customer, bringing it one step closer to it’s projected 2018 target for starting the service. the american e-commerce corporation is currently permitted to operate during daylight hours when there are low winds plus good visibility, however not in rain, snow or icy conditions. through gathering this data to improve the safety and reliability of our systems and operations, it also intends to expand the service reach.
