iranian concept designer amin akhshi has unveiled a maintenance assistant robot that might make boston dynamic’s spot a little jealous. dubbed SN-3 nova, this type of robot aims to be the future colleagues of maintenance technician in the inspection, maintenance and repairs of electronic devices.

‘back in 2019, I made a concept for a type of robot that could be future colleagues of maintenance technicians in the inspection, maintenance, and repairs of electronic devices when there would be a potential health hazard for humans who enter it in that area,’ said amin akhshi on the behance description of the project. ‘for the past few months, I’ve been working on this concept in my spare time, I tried to add some improvements to this version compare to the previous design, and I am so happy to share with you the outcome.’

the SN-3 nova by amin akhshi uses endowrist instruments to repair most of the electronic boards with no time constrains. it can quickly spot problems as soon as they appear on the systems that cannot be shot down and drained for inspection, and the system itself is a potential health hazard for humans to enter it. a 48V lithium-ion battery powers it while a 3D laser scanner plus HDR camera shows controllers where to work with the fully-wristed instruments. a high-precision CMOS sensor enables the robot to be as precise as possible.
