at its keynote event today, apple introduced a host new of products, apps and ideas, including smaller iPhone and iPad devices. 

 

the new iphone SE has been designed for people who want a smaller phone, but don’t want to sacrifice on quality. while the device features a reduced size, it maintains the same performance of the iPhone 6s and 6s plus. a 64-bit A9 chip provides fast speeds, longer battery life, faster wireless, a 12-megapixel isight camera featuring live photos and 4K video, and touch ID with apple pay. the four-inch display is finished with matte-chamfered edges, a color-matched stainless steel apple logo, and four metallic finishes.

the all-new 9.7-inch iPad pro weighs just under one pound and is 6.1mm thin. features include a pro retina display, wider color gamut, lower reflectivity, night shift mode and true tone display technology to adjust white balance. the device delivers performance with a 64-bit A9X chip, a four-speaker audio system that is twice as powerful, new 12-megapixel iSight camera for shooting live photos and 4K video, 5-megapixel facetime HD camera. additionally, iPad pro includes support for the apple pencil and a new smart keyboard cover designed to fit the 9.7-inch device.

alongside the reveal of iPhone SE and 9.7-inch ipad pro, apple introduced carekit — a new software framework designed to help people better understand and manage their health. iPhone apps using carekit make it easier for people to keep track of care plans, monitor symptoms and medication, with the ability to share information with doctors, nurses or family members.

in addition, apple launched a recycle program around a R&D robot they call ‘liam’. it can take apart over 1.2 million phones a year, removing key materials for reuse for a next generation product. customers can send in old ‘macs’, ‘iPads’, ‘iPhones’ or ‘iPods’ and receive gifts cards if the device qualifies for one.
