aston martin has revealed the final production-ready iteration of its first all-electric production car – the rapide E. unveiled at the 2019 auto shanghai motor show, the special edition EV has a production run strictly limited to 155 units, and has been developed in collaboration with williams advanced engineering.

aston martin‘s rapide E boasts a 0-62mph time of less than four seconds and a top speed limited to 155mph. based on the petrol-powered rapide, it features a pair of electric motors sending 602bhp to the rear wheels and a 65kWh battery returns more than 200 miles of range based on the latest WLTP efficiency tests.

the rapid E has rapid charging speeds of over 100kW, which aston martin says will get the battery from 0-80% in approximately half an hour. meanwhile, an AC charger on-board promises a full top-up in less than three hours.

inside, a 10-inch color display displays key information including battery charge, power output/energy consumption, and regenerative braking performance. there will be three driving modes: GT, sport and sport+, which control both power delivery and handling characteristics. the centre console also features climate control and infotainment screen controls.

it also comes with a dedicated smartphone app, showing things like the current range and remaining charge time. other cool features include being able to send sat-nav instructions to the vehicle remotely, and having it reveal its location in crowded car parks.

the rapid E is the first model to be built in aston martin’s new factory in st athan, wales with prices on application. the EV is on sale now and has a rumoured price tag in the region of £250,000.
