athos, an american startup developing intelligent performance apparel have introduced their first collection of smart workout clothing. focused on analyzing muscle activity, effort, and heart and breathing rates in real-time, the high-tech garments seamlessly incorporate biosignal monitoring into a ‘warp knit’ to provide stability during training; while reducing fatigue and soreness.

the athos line is designed with flat seam construction to avoid chafing, uses 4-way stretch to enable full range of movement, has sweat wicking to keep users cool and dry and incorporates UPF 50 treatment to protect skin from UV rays. in addition to tracking muscle activity and providing real-time data on your mobile device, athos gear uses EMG (electromyography) technology, 16 embedded sensors without wires, an accelerometer and magnetometer.

the smart apparel uses innovative technology to track the metrics that matter for maximum results: correct form, specific muscle effort, even movement, time worked vs. rested, and heart and respiratory rates. the bluetooth powered core – the brain of the system containing the electronics and analytical technology – interprets information from the sensors in the shirt and shorts, and sends it to your phone to give you actionable insights
