audi automotive has released their newest concept plug-in hybrid vehicle at the 2012 paris motor show blending the styling of a coupe, convertible and crossover into one package. the ‘crosslane coupe’ is equipped with a 1.5-litre 177 horsepower TFSI three-cylinder petrol/electric engine that produces 184 lb-ft of torque, capable of a topspeed of 113 miles per hour (181 km/h) with a 0-62 sprint of 8.6 seconds.

its plug-in hybrid system, uses a 17.4 KWH lithium-ion battery allowing the vehicle to travel up to 53 miles (85 km) when cruising at averages of around 80mph (129 km/h). new advancements in sustainable transportation technologies, demonstrate the vehicle’s potential of reaching a fuel economy of 256.8mpg with CO2 outputs of just 26 grams/km.

built using blends of multi-material aluminium, carbon fiber and fiberglass-reinforced polymers act as the main structure for audi’s new space frame construction, resulting in a lightweight chassis weight of 1,390 kg with the battery pack. attached to the back  of the rear seats, the new interior boot configuration integrates a separate pan within the body structure that electronically shifts to provide an additional 40cm of flat storage for luggage or extra cabin space.
