after a very successful kickstarter campaign, technology company avegant is ready to ship the final design of their flagship media gear – ‘glyph’. the personal theater is designed with lightweight portability, rich audio and precise video. 

the streamlined shape offers a familiar form that goes anywhere and overcomes the need for copious amounts of cables, which is a distinct advantage over other head-mounted displays. a single HDMI input means the ‘glyph’ works with virtually all types of media sources – smartphones, tablets, laptops, game consoles, streaming media players, drone transmitters and more. 

the display uses microscopic mirrors

the ‘glyph’ recreates natural light using avegant’s patented ‘retinal imaging technology’ employing advanced optics and microscopic mirrors to project images directly to the eyes. visual content is enhanced and users can explore new media like 360 degree videos for an immersive experience. the wearable can accommodate a wide range of eyeglass prescriptions to deliver optimal image quality for effortless extended viewing without wearing glasses. 

with up to four hours of video playback, the lenses use low powered LEDs. after passing through a set of optics, the light is reflected off a a microscopic mirror array. two million mirrors that shape the light into an image fit for the eye. the light is then focused through a second set of optics and projected directly onto the retina mimicking the way we perceive light in our every environment.
