a year after the freshly released BMW ‘M4 coupe’, the ‘M’ racing division presents a high performance car for the road, and above all, the race track: BMW ‘concept M4 GTS’. ‘while the BMW M4 Coupe embodies the ideal combination of motor sport genes and unrestricted everyday usability, the BMW Concept M4 GTS previews an emotionally powerful and exclusive special model conceived with an eye for trailblazing technology and a keen focus on the race track,’ said frank van meel, president BMW M division. ‘despite its outstanding track ability, it is still fully road-legal. this is racing technology for the road in the truest sense.’

the technology is destined to make their series production model

the concept showcases the most advanced technologies destined to make their series production debut in next model to be unveiled at a later date. the special racing model has been developed to fulfil its purpose as a successful track machine, that includes a manually adjustable front splitter and rear wing – both made of exposed carbon fibre, ensure effective aerodynamic balance and the allow the concept to be adapted for both individual race tracks and for use on the road.

the engineers also introduced a water injection system that vaporizes the liquid and cools the intake manifold significantly. this enables the turbocharged engine to use higher boost pressure and earlier injection timing. translation: more power at higher rotations. the coupe also heralds a new era in light design and lighting concepts with the introduction of OLED technology in the rear lights. the new type will produce full surface and homogenous illumination.
