after 40 years, BMW reboots the sporty M2 coupe series

BMW official premiered the ‘M2’ to american audiences at the 2016 NAIAS.  


after a 40 year hiatus, BMW rekindles the ‘M2’ model that encapsulates the same dynamics, agility, and optimum car control. with its six cylinder in-line engine, signature rear wheel drive layout and lightweight aluminum suspension, the cutting-edge ‘M2’ coupe has all the ingredients to deliver a lasting driving experience. as an added member to the BMW ‘M’ family, the sporty coupe is styled similarly to their motor racing heritage. the low front apron with large air intakes, burly flanks with characteristic ‘M’ gills, 19 inch aluminum wheels in familiar double spoke design and low, wide rear with twin-tailpipe exhaust system all play impressive roles here.

the developed three liter six cylinder engine deploys twin power turbo technology to output 370 HP. the optional seven-speed double clutch transmission and launch control can accelerate it from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds. top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. the BMW ‘M2’ coupe comes with an extensive list of standard equipment in keep with its performance-focused arrangement. a wide selection of driver assistance systems and mobility services from BMW ‘ConnectedDrive’ is also available. they provide the basis for extensive vehicle connectivity and this option also enables the use of apps, which are integrated seamlessly into the car.
