the BMW ’51/2′ motorcycle was only produced for two years back in 1950 and 1951, so it is pretty hard to come by. this particular blue mash up of vintage BMW bikes is one of the finest examples we’ve seen.

kontrast kreations had found the ‘R51/2’ bobber in a barn with parts from a variety of vintage BMW motorcycles. it started by dismantling the engine and gearbox, and rebuilding them with new seals. the cylinders received a fresh coat of paint, but the engine cases were preserved to show their age. the bike’s original black-with-white-striped paint job is replaced with ‘petrol’ blue.

the motorcycle’s wheels were replaced with new spokes and repainted a cool glossy black, while the original headlamp with integrated speedometer was left intact. a bespoke seat pan and knee pads were fabricated, then upholstered in brown leather to complement the brooks bicycle grips wrapped around the handlebars. finally, at the back is a custom license plate bracket with and a bates-style tail light that comes with a 6V bulb.
