CES 2009: motorola renew sustainable mobile

while most gadget makers are showing off products with faster chip sets and bigger screen, very few are focusing on their product’s sustainability. motorolo will be launching their new renew w233 mobile phone during ces. while the mobile phone has minimal features and pretty standard form factor, the phone is made from recycled pet bottles. motorola is claiming the phone is the world’s first carbon neutral mobile, when compared to others using only a percentage of recycled plastic. in addition, the device will come packaged in an earth-friendly recycled paper case that uses 22% less material and only uses soy-based inks. but the phone’s sustainability reaches further than the package and case, it is also designed to use less energy when in use.
