classified moto bigwheel 650 custom 1996 honda XR650L motorcycle: when classified moto designs and builds bikes, it rarely does it to make a statement. in this case there’s ‘a little bit of a statement’. named the ‘bigwheel 650’, the virginia-based company’s goal was to build something to delight itself and infuriate armchair builders with its very presence. the secondary goal was to make the bike handle predictably and safely, allowing riders to take it on or off the road, without holding back aggression.

based upon the 1996 honda ‘XR650L’, classified moto’s multipurpose-motorcycle is sat upon a honda ‘ATC250R’ front wheel, yamaha ‘BW200’ rear wheel, both wrapped in super-robust STI ‘black diamond (dot radial)’ tires. for added rider comfort the custom seat is upholstered in waxed canvas and leather. as with most of classified moto’s bikes, there are a bunch of details that go into making it happen, but it can’t claim this one is about the subtleties.

this motorcycle has been deep in the dunes at pismo beach, california, slinging gravel and dirt on the trails, flattening curbs in the city and drafting semis at freeway speeds.

the US garage claims to be, ‘proud of our long-dreamed-about monstrosity.’ and moreso for the fact it is, ‘licensed, insured, registered, safety inspected and 100 percent legal for road use.
