Mikhail Smolyanov designs ‘eZpIn’

Custom motorcycle designer Mikhail Smolyanov sounds vague when he tells how he came about with the bullet-shaped design of his concept electric retro-futuristic motorcycle ‘eZpIn.’ Smolyanov admits that his style is based on retro-futurism. He imagines aluminum stainless steel taking up a bullet form for the seat of the motorcycle and what might look like rimless glasses for the overall aesthetics.

The pointed end grows larger, longer, and wider as it reaches the head of the concept ride. The use of aluminum stainless steel as the design material sizzles too, knowing that Smolyanov conceptualizes the ride as an electric motorcycle. The line of dots along the side of the steel seat may remind viewers of a submarine, amplified by the speedometer poking through the body frame.

Rather than the ordinary horizontal position of the handles, Smolyanov’s style is erected as if they were game console joysticks. Riders are offered a game vibe. Lean in, and eZpIn will blaze them through the highway. Smolyanove calls his own 3D illustration a ‘strange motorcycle’ and draws its style and looks while he was staying in a strange place on one of the longest nights of the year.

What that space and time might have been hasn’t come forth yet. His lips are sealed, but the way his concept motorcycle has sprung out from his creative thinking may peer through his state of mind, one where the design future of motorcycle riding pales in comparison to what the present day sees.

Varying sizes of design elements

Mikhail Smolyanov has also conceptualized a motorcycle made of transparent glass. The round edges soften the formidable look of the glass, and the use of gray tones gives the motorcycle a genial feeling. The boxy gas and engine frame of the glass-clad motorcycle appears in eZpIn.

Instead of enclosing it with barriers, eZpIn’s has just a single solid block of steel where the motorcycle’s essentials are all crammed in. The no-fuss design emits a clean flair, a seemingly unspoken call to the minimalists. The hollowed wheels are also thoroughly designed.

At first glance, they look similar. Then, viewers soon realize they have different sizes. The rear wheel is chunkier and rounder with attached taillights and a design element that makes it look like an external macro lens that can be placed on a smartphone’s camera.

Inside the rim, the name of eZpIn is lodged in yolk color. The front wheel is thinner, as if it was borrowed from a bicycle, and is udnerlined by a yellow accent. The difference in the wheels’ size influences the headlights where the smaller one blasts yellow and the bigger emits white glow, both in LED.
