hongik university students present nova chef & nova server
Following Laika the healing robot dog companion, students from Hongkik University present Nova Chef and Nova Server — a hospitable duo positioned to cater to travelers on future space tourism initiatives. Conceptualized by Industrial Design majors Seokoo Yeo and Sun-a Choi, the service robots are defined by modular moving parts and interchangeable body components that enable their versatility and mobility within the space hotel. The Chef features interchangeable hand for various use cases, including harvesting vegetables and suction for safely transporting objects. Together, they will make fresh space food sourced from the space farm and serve it directly to the guests, offering a futuristic extraterrestrial culinary experience.

a futuristic culinary experience in space
Led by their tutor Tate Eunyong Kim, designers Seokoo Yeo and Sun-a Choi delve into a playful exploration of robotics to envision how space dining may look in the future. Nova Chef and Nova Server, the cooking and serving robots, are positioned to cater to space travelers in upcoming missions such as Above Space’s Voyage Station hotel, slated for realization by 2027. The robot server is also equipped with technology to keep the food and beverages at optimal temperature, and also features a friendly design to interact with visitors at the bar or restaurant.
