this dancing robot teaches itself how to move to live music

we already know the autonomous quadruped research robot ANYmal is clever but who knew it was fun too. the four-legged friend and now dancing robot has recently been taught to learn through live music by researchers at swiss university ETH zurich.

ETH zurich‘s ANYmal carries an onboard microphone with which music can be perceived. the beat of the music is then analyzed before a suitable sequence of dance motions is choreographed by choosing a suitable motion from a database that generates the desired motion trajectory.

  • Musicians are forced to play some painful gigs, but this is torture …and preserved for history on video. Eeeech.

Let a robot dance to another robot …humans will lose out soon enough. Don’t rush it.
