dutch designer david graas designed a lamp based on the light emissions from the netherlands. the lamp shows a light map of holland that is more shaded where there is less light and brighter in the more densely populated regions. the design is taken from actual space images of the country at night. the lamp is built using a plastic shade that is produced using rapid manufacturing techniques. rather than a form derived from the designer’s mind, this lamp uses scientific data, transforming it into a functional object.
