referencing retro-futuristic worlds like akira or mad max, the bike is defined by its hand brushed stainless steel superstructure with visible welding and rivets, giving the body a raw, unfinished feel. the genuine leather saddle is unique to the diavel, and along with its front cowl, tank cover and passenger seat cover, represents a more ‘crafted’ side to the vehicle. the design also features red lateral air intake covers and brembo brake calibers, complimented by a retro-style LCD display. the bike’s exhaust system is layered in black zircotec ceramic coating and sports black silencers, engraved with a new pyramid motif.

the lightweight diavel sports a 162 HP testastretta 11 DS engine, and combined with the ducati safety pack and riding mode, promises an experience that is both agile and intuitive. the reveal of the design coincided with milan men’s fashion week, where diesel revealed a new capsule collection celebrating the shared roots of the fashion label and motorcycle company. a fiery red catwalk marked with the new pyramid motif and motorcycle graphics served as a backdrop to the event. the release, which includes a pair of jogg jeans, a leather jacket and two t-shirts, marked a busy week for andrea rosso (creative director of diesel licenses) who also unveiled the BAS-ITO range for his personal label, MYAR.

‘it’s an important bike that reflects the rock side of diesel’s DNA’, explains rosso. ‘the wording ‘never look back’ engraved with the two logos encapsulates the the significance of this collaboration: a timeless bike that catches the eye with so many unmistakable details (…) ducati, diavel, and diesel, three words, six letters each, forming 666, the limited number of examples of this new collection.’ both the bike and clothing line are scheduled for an april 2017 release.
