‘eee transformer prime’ tablet by asus

the ‘transformer prime‘ by asus joins the company’s ‘eee pad’ line of transformable tablets. at 0.33-inches (8.3mm) thick and a weight of 1.3-pounds (586 grams), the multitouch tablet is the world’s first to feature a NVIDIA tegra 3 quad-core processor. with a micro SD card slot, audio jack, and micro HDMI port built into the tablet frame, the ‘prime’ offers increased functionality when connected to its mobile dock, which adds a keyboard, touchpad, USB port, and SD card reader to the input options.

an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with flash and 1.2-megapixel front camera take both photographs and 1080p HD video. asus ‘sonicmaster’ technology is designed for higher fidelity audio capacity. the tablet has a battery life of up to 12 hours, extensible to 18 when connected to its mobile dock.

composed of aluminum in ‘champagne gold’ or ‘amethyst gray’, the ‘transformer prime’ retails for between 500 USD (for 32GB flash storage) and 600 USD (64GB), while the mobile dock costs 150 USD, all available in december 2011.
