EICMA 2016: husqvarna vitpilen 401 AERO concept motorycle

at EICMA 2016, husqvarna celebrates 113 years of heritage by extending their model range with the ‘vitpilen 401 AERO’ concept motorcycle. the concept has been in the pipeline for some time now: a sketch of the bike first surfaced at last year’s EICMA, when the ‘vitpilen 701’ concept was showcased.  typical of the swedish manufacturer’s design language, the new addition has a retro-futuristic form; plus a minimalistic layout. the racer is fitted with the same, responsive 375 cc engine as the rest of the vitpilen lineup.

influenced by the brand’s history, the ‘vitpilen 401 AERO’ is a compact single-cylinder ‘street’ concept motorcycle that clearly depicts husqvarna’s interpretation of how a concept motorcycle should appear. the steel trellis frame and minimalistic fairing keep the weight under 148 kilograms, while the fuel tank holds up to 9 liters in capacity. compared to its ‘vitpilen 401’ sibling, the stylish windshield gives the ‘vitpilen 401 AERO’ a more complete appearance, while allowing the front and the rear ends of the bike to complement each-other perfectly. with the windshield’s design now encouraging a more ‘locked-in’ position, the rider’s helmet can now become part of the airflow; in what is a fully immersive riding position.

husqvarna’s ‘vitpilen 401 AERO’ concept features a back-torque limiter; WP suspension; and ABS. the braking system is provided by brembo’s indian division, bybre. the company has yet to comment on whether or not this motorcycle will go into production, but we certainly that the time comes where it can see the light of day.

  • A. I am a big fan of singles. They sound sooo much better on the street. B. Husky is the perfect company to make this. C. Compared to a lot of over-the-top styling, this is very well done. (the front fender comes off of mine..) Bravo!
