to raise awareness for experiential education programs, students from minddrive have restored a 1967 volkswagen karmann ghia and have incorporated an electric motor and system that converts social media feedback into energy. likes on facebook, and hashtags from twitter and instagram will supply the power needed to conduct a road trip from kansas city to washington D.C, where the program hopes to drive change through education. an arduino device harnesses social media interactions through a hot spot inside the car, triggering the ignition when enough conversation and is generated. for example, a new twitter follower supplies five watts of power, re-tweets, hashtags and mentions add 3 watts, and likes on facebook add 1 watt  ( 1000 W is approximately 1 horsepower) currently, the initiative has recieved over 130,000 social watts, enough to give the vehicle 130 horsepower.
