Electric all-terrain vehicle with 18 wheels resembling centipede

Finnish-founded 18 Wheels has produced an electric jet ski that resembles an all-around and all-weather centipede with its 18 flexible wheels that can traverse over rocks, sand, mud, and water. The eco-friendly prototype of the all-terrain vehicle and watercraft, slated to be unveiled in October 2023, packs a suspension system where each of the 18 wheels has its own electric motor, allowing for adjustable movement.

Because of the suspension installed in each wheel, the flexible, toothbrush-bristle wheels can adapt to any surface and wheel their way out of being stuck in thick and muddy lands. The 18 Wheels design team states that they first built the pilot prototype, which may look like multi-wheeled electric motorcycle, back in 2022 and tested its suspension on different soils to see whether or not it can weather any surface.

It seems that the six-month testing was successful as the first prototype was followed by a revamped design – still with a jet ski body over a platform with 18 wheels – which will be the one to be built and produced for public viewing later this year. Keep an eye out as 18 Wheels is planning to organize a test drive for those who want to try out the electric centipede jet ski with flexible wheels.

Electric Jet ski surfing on land, water, and any surface

Aside from being an electric all-terrain vehicle, the centipede jet ski with 18 wheels can also overcome obstacles higher than 200 mm without a loss of speed. As seen in the video, the vehicle easily weathers the tree trunk in its path as the wheels rev and slide over the top of its surface. This is due to the revamped suspension system brought about by the results of the first testing and prototype that 18 Wheels carried out.

In the new design, the mechanism attached to the wheels can move upwards and downwards to adapt to the height and bumpy changes in the path. Jet ski fans may not have to worry about wetting and damaging the suspension system as the vehicle crosses the sea since the design team says that the electric motors can guarantee full water protection. It may be slower than a usual watercraft, but it does its job in cruising over water in no time.

With the electric centipede jet ski, at least the driver no longer needs to change their vehicle when they ride from water to land. Ahead of its public presentation of the new design, 18 Wheels unveils the refreshed look with its full-out jet ski body that partly covers the wheels. In this style, the electric all-terrain vehicle refers to its all-around ride system that can sweep the driver’s other automobiles aside.
