flux design co. combines an electric skateboard with a powersport utility vehicle to create an all-terrain board for surfing the earth. the seattle-based company’s ‘track one’ has a deck made of carbon fiber + kevlar, with ATV-grade wheels at the front and tank treads at the back. the lightweight board’s rechargeable battery has a top speed of over 20 mph (32 km/h) and has a range of 12 miles (19 km).

flux design co.’s track ‘one’ lets the rider use a remote control, while leaning into turns to steer. removable bindings improve foot grip and control like a snowboard, while the rear-driven track helps to navigate sharp turns and skids, with motor-braking bringing the board to rest. the seattle-based company says the board can climb hills up to a 50 percent grade.

the all-terrain skateboard also makes use of a variety of lightweight materials to keep weight to a minimum, while ensuring durability. the deck is constructed from layers of carbon fiber, kevlar and a core material, and the removable handlebars use a carbon, aluminum and chromoly construction. power comes courtesy of a five-horsepower rear electric motor spinning the track, which can increase the size of the contact patch, allowing the board to glide over soft terrain.
