revealed ahead of the 2015 geneva motor show, the 2016 range rover ‘evoque’ showcases an evolved exterior and interior design which has been labelled as the most visually impacting model to date. available in either a coupé or five-door style, the carefully revised body features a muscular bumper and significantly enlarged lower air intakes. this, together with the slimline LED fog lamps, emphasizes an assertive road presence which extends the brand’s distinctive appearance. the car’s front is offered with two new grilles, both of which have a modified surround and bold mesh inserts, and are finished in either atlas silver, narvik black and corris grey.

through carefully revisions, its progressive exterior design has evolved

‘when evoque debuted in 2011, it translated the LRX concept car’s radical design language to reality almost entirely unaltered. four years on, evoque’s leading-edge design retains its wow factor and continues to turn heads,’ said phil simmons, exterior realisation director, land rover. ‘our carefully considered design evolution, both outside and in, ensures evoque’s status as a ground-breaking automotive design is safeguarded for years to come.’

the rear spoiler and roof fins create a sleeker appearance

continuing to add even more eye-catching elements, the 2016 range rover ‘evoque’ introduces a sporty aesthetic with its bonnet vents that are finished in non-metallic narvik black or atlas silver metallic. the roof fins, towards its rear, compliment the tailgate spoiler and the LED stop light, which not only illustrates the vehicle’s differentiation to other models, but also its sleeker appearance. another noticeable feature is the integration of full-LED adaptive headlamps – a first for a jaguar land rover product – which is brighter, has a longer lifespan and reduces demands on its electrical system.

gerry mcgovern, land rover design director and chief creative officer said: ‘the range rover evoque first established and then dominated the luxury compact SUV sector generating worldwide acclaim and sales success. our challenge has been to evolve the evoque design without diluting its distinctive character.’

with a choice of two compact, lightweight and low-emissions four-cylinder turbocharged ingenium engines, or a Si4 2.0 liter petrol motor, the SUV can accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.6 seconds and to a top speed of 135mph. working alongside the highly capable chassis, the two-wheel drive, standard four-wheel drive, and active drivelines provide a class-leading driving experience. its compliant suspension, rewarding handling and responsive electric power-assisted steering system adds to this, and makes it both a highly involving and comfortable vehicle to drive.
