Dutch startup Radian introduces its first production motorcycle, the EXR, a competition-ready electric enduro bike designed to challenge combustion-powered racing platforms across off-road disciplines. Developed over three years by a team with roots in electric superbike racing, the motorcycle pairs a 70-horsepower drivetrain with a patent-pending battery-swapping system that lets riders replace depleted packs in less than 30 seconds without tools. Radian plans to launch the EXR in selected European markets from Q4 2027, offering the bike for both competitive and recreational riding.

The EXR uses Radian’s curved InfiniPack battery system, designed to support ergonomic battery swapping and the overall structure of the motorcycle. The removable pack slides through a natural rotational motion that allows riders to quickly swap batteries trackside while keeping the electric drivetrain’s rotating mass centered low within the chassis. The production model arrives with an 8.6 kWh Endurance battery offering between 60 and 115 kilometers of race-pace range, or up to seven hours of riding depending on terrain and intensity. A lighter 5.8 kWh Sprint pack is planned for a later release, reducing the motorcycle’s overall weight from 125 to 113 kilograms.

Modular storage system removes the need for riding backpacks

EXR’s drivetrain combines a 336-volt electric motor, carbon-sleeved rotor, and proprietary inverter technology to deliver 1060 Nm of torque directly to the rear wheel from standstill. The system revs continuously up to 14,000 RPM, without using a conventional gearbox, allowing riders to navigate technical terrain without shifting gears. Through the accompanying mobile app, users can adjust throttle response and power delivery profiles depending on riding style, from low-end torque for hard enduro sections to smoother top-end performance for sand riding and high-speed tracks.

Electric motorcycle startup Radian integrates storage directly into the aluminum subframe of the motorcycle through a modular Smart Storage system that eliminates the need for backpacks during rides. Riders can swap compartments depending on use case, carrying tools, spare parts, chargers, or custom inserts developed through downloadable 3D-printable files provided by the company. The chassis itself doubles as a thermal interface for cooling, using the conductive properties of aluminum to regulate drivetrain temperatures during racing conditions.

The EXR adopts a stripped-back and industrial aesthetic with exposed fasteners, ribbed bodywork, and flowing surfaces. The front LED Radian Vision headlight incorporates an animated lighting signature that also indicates charging status, while the cockpit integrates a built-in enduro timekeeping system intended to reduce distractions during competition. Premium components, including KYB suspension and Brembo brakes, complete the setup, while the limited Founders Edition adds Haan wheels with Excel A60 rims.

Founded in 2021 in the Dutch region of Twente, Radian builds on experience gained through Electric Superbike Twente, the student-led racing initiative that won the 2018 MotoE championship during its debut season. The company collaborates with institutions including University of Twente and Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Advanced Manufacturing as it develops future electric off-road platforms spanning motocross and supermoto categories.
