the floating seahorse signature edition is following the success of the world’s first underwater villas, unveiled in early 2015 by kleindienst, the developer of the floating architecture. designed, engineered and built in the UAE, 40 units are now under production. the estimated completion for the first phase is october 2016.

to ensure an exceptional getaway experience, a team of architects and interior designers have created the ‘floating seahorse’ and offer four flexi living / sleeping areas. each unit can also be customized to ensure the ultimate in privacy by fully enclosing the outdoor areas on the sea level and upper level. when not enclosed, these outdoor areas can be used for alfresco entertaining all-year-round thanks to the introduction of climate controlled technology

  • Nice concept. Too bad there is exactly zero marine life in Dubai. They make it out like its a tropical paradise – well it isn’t. The water is murky and underwater you find nothing but sand and some rocks. I guess the TV screensaver will have to do.

  • There is a point where the disparity between wealth and poverty should be kept hidden. This is simply distasteful in that context and then anyone who has lived in a saltwater environment would know this habitat would be a corroded, moldy mess in short order. It’s another case of ‘just because you can…”.

    JimCan says:
  • I agree with the above commentor and am surprised design boom published this project. The environmental impact of these homes will be disastrous and though living in them may be a beautiful fantasy, they are utterly tasteless in the context of our times.
