building on design technologies in the medicinal field, the latest undertaking by yves behar and fuseproject called ‘kernel of life’ is a cloud-based test and treatment system for illness in the developing world. administering both analysis and diagnosis for chronic disease, particularly malaria, the wearable device is embedded with a four quadrant bio-sensing absorbent pad that can test the blood, saliva, urine and breath. the results are transmitted via bluetooth to a mobile application, which allows for the continuous monitoring of patients remotely. reminders, such as medicine intake or doctor’s visits, facilitate easy and uncomplicated consultation when the nearest physician is days away. the diagnostic health care device was proposed by the gates foundation and wired magazine, and is a design response to the complications of attending to sickness in countries with little access to proper medical care.

  • Seems its for poor country so who has an phone + internet to us it ? Make it on a old Nokia then…
Sorry… the project seems little bit “cliche” and for ‘Hype’ people. Too much lifestyle oriented. This product it’s not a Jambox !

  • Less and Less Impressed. Who is doing the research for these projects?
Malaria – Apparently now a Virus… ( see image Malaria – you now have less Virus in your blood stream. ) Pretty sure last time I checked it was a Parasite….

As Jan said – absorbant Bio Pads = A very smelly object…..Round your neck…

Fantasy for Fantasy/ At least BASE it on some reality. Or provide the background to it, not just… Oh it works

  • So, how does this work? You blead on it, breath on it, pee on it and then spit on it before hanging it around your neck?

  • Concerned citizen – “Millions of people die every year from preventable diseases, is there some solution to this symptom of ongoing global inequality?”
    Designer “How about an app?”
