galaXsea project is the first orbital hotel by eugeni quitllet

created by eugeni quitllet, galaXsea is the first space solar sail boat 3D-printed in space. this vision of the future — or the starting point for many of them — is presented as a platform to experiment creativity on another level, stripping it away from mundane rules. with this project, quitllet invites creatives to rethink the future of our species not in earth but in space.

‘I remember when the future was about leaving earth in a boring rocket or an individual capsule,’ comments quitllet. ‘scientists were pursuing the dream of living in a hole on the moon or building settlements in a desert in mars. the idea of the future used to sound exciting to us, it seemed like the only possible idea… who could blame us? that was the only vision of the future we were provided with.’

the galaXsea project — a name that plays with the words galaxy and sea — welcomes space visitors, artists, scientists and anyone willing to think the future, to be surrounded by beauty and get immersed in a unique spatial experience — one that awakes the most sensitive senses. in it, the line between dream and reality is blurred, separating what’s possible from what’s impossible. ‘future is the point of view of the artist who takes a step back, seeking the bigger picture of reality and imagination,’ continues the designer.

galaXsea was born from using the 3D printing method, where the designer imitated the same process nature uses to create exoskeletons and other structures like honeycombs, snails and seashells; from hard to soft with no physical transition. overall, quitllet says that ‘it’s a continuous project that keeps growing, with unique pieces that you can only find there, designed in space for a better life on earth.’
