the golden yellow lexus ‘LF-C2’ concept, premiering at the 2014 los angeles auto show, displays its roadster influence as it does not feature any type of top to cover the cabin. produced in a 2+2 layout, the pure and simple sports coupé derived car has a various surfaced exterior design that interacts uniquely to different lights. the edges, planes and curvature resembles a new character when seen from different angles and under particular lighting conditions.

the car is influenced by the form of a roadster

‘the LF-C2 concept shows what’s in store for our brand’s future design direction,’ said jeff bracken, lexus group vice president and general manager. ‘this concept shows consumers around the world lexus’ devotion to emotional designs as well as our passion for an exceptional driving experience.’

striking in a layered paint process, the lexus ‘LF-C2’ has a more experimental expression of the company’s signature spindle-shaped grille, that features a refined braided mesh theme. it sits between the triangle-form LED headlights – another clear resemblance of the japanese manufacturer – that along with the arrow-shaped and swooping lined body, reflects its sports car nature and capabilities.

the shape’s surface reacts depending on different lights and angles

‘we’ve been instinctively drawn to and inspired by those things that capture the beauty of light,’ said yasuo kajino, chief designer LF-C2, lexus design division. ‘when you put something in the right light, people see it in a way they never have before.’

the car’s interior matches the sporty elegance of the outside, with a spacious cabin that blends the open-air excitement with complete luxury. the white and gray leather surfaces are soft to touch and compliments features, such as; the dashboard design, central video monitor controlled by a remote touchpad and a classically-styled analog clock.
