working together with korean manufacturer LG electronics, stockholm-based studio claesson koivisto rune have developed ‘skyline’, a home theatre system influenced by their architectural ethos, and the phenomenon of the modern metropolis. the design elements of the audio units – the center channel, the right and left speakers, and the subwoofer – vary in height and proportion in relation to each other. gently angled planes framed within thin, box-shaped volumes create a visual language, a recurring theme rooted in the swedish studio’s architectural practice. in addition, a false perspective effect seen on the front of each of the speakers references intricate forms and planes from groups of highly-stylized buildings, rising up, to create a silhouette reminiscent of today’s urban city-scapes.
