HONOR unveils porsche design smartphones at MWC 2024

At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, HONOR debuts a series of artificial intelligence technologies under its belt, including the global stage debut of its HONOR Magic V2 RSR foldable smartphone and Magic6 RSR smartphone, both of which were conceived in collaboration with Porsche Design.

For the foldable smartphone, HONOR teams up with Porsche Design to recreate the hood of the 911 sports car model and engrave the iteration onto the backside of the Magic V2 RSR with a singular jutted line positioned in the middle. The first Porsche Design foldable smartphone makes its global debut on stage at MWC 2024 in Barcelona, and HONOR doubles down by introducing a teaser of its smartphone sibling, the Magic6 RSR.

Still in collaboration with Porsche Design, the Magic6 RSR smartphone embodies the appearance of a Porsche race car coupled with a centered camera sitting within the geometric and motorsports-inspired style of the smartphone. The teaser follows in the footsteps of other AI-powered systems and devices that HONOR unveiled at MWC 2024, including the smartphone Magic6 Pro that can learn the behavior of the user, the eye-tracking AI system that can also be used in vehicles, a new camera setup that resembles the ones used in sports photography, and a drop-resistant screen glass for its new smartphone models that absorbs shock when the devices accidentally falls.

Exploring Porsche Design HONOR Magic V2 RSR

The Porsche Design HONOR Magic V2 RSR foldable smartphone may only be as thick as a pencil when folded, earning it the title of the thinnest inward foldable smartphone currently on the market. HONOR and Porsche Design use aerospace-grade titanium alloy for the hinge of the foldable smartphone, which has surpassed 100 folds and unfolding during testing. A sports car smartphone is what HONOR and Porsche Design had in mind when they devised the Magic V2 RSR, and to underline this, they went for Agate Grey as its flagship color, which Porsche has featured in the 911, Boxster, Cayman, Macan, and Panamera.

Behind the foldable smartphone, a three-camera setup – which includes a 50MP Main Camera, a 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera, and a 20MP Telephoto Camera – lets the users take videos and photos powered by AI motion sensing capture technology. The setting employs an AI network trained on an extensive dataset of over 270,000 images so that when the users take videos or photos, the AI model automatically unblurs the blurry shots by intelligently filling in the gaps and pixels and identifying which areas need to be polished. To exhibit the sense of being a limited-edition, the Porsche Design HONOR Magic V2 RSR has a custom watermark that users can toggle to let other people know that the videos and photos were taken with this sports car-inspired foldable smartphone.

HONOR’s scratch-resistant NanoCrystal Shield screen glass

Porsche Design isn’t done yet with the HONOR smartphones. At MWC 2024, the duo also introduced the scratch-resistant NanoCrystal Shield screen glass, which is applied to both the Magic V2 RSR and the upcoming Magic6 and Magic6 PRO smartphones. What makes it free from scratches is the use of silicon nitride coated onto the nanocrystal glass material. This material is often used in road and race cars as a core engine and bearing component to make them durable and withstand the impact of hard and coarse surfaces such as asphalt roads, quartz sandpaper, and marble. Since this is applied to the Porsche Design and HONOR smartphones, their screen glass can remain scratch-free even if the users rub it with a quartz sandpaper sheet, on a marble surface, or against an asphalt road.

HONOR reveals magic6 pro AI smartphone at MWC 2024

HONOR Magic6 Pro, in black velvet matte glass and green ripple classic leather, also made its debut at MWC 2024 in Barcelona, bringing in Magic 8.0, the latest version of its Android-based operating system that introduces new AI features for the users. Two of these are named Magic Capsule and Magic Portal. The former expands the information when the users tap the notifications banner at the top of the screen and gives them related options immediately, so they don’t need to go through multiple apps. The latter learns the users’ messaging and behavior using AI. In this way, the AI system immediately directs users to Google Maps when it sees addresses in a text message, links them back to the store of the items when they see their images but don’t know where they’re from, and more.

HONOR Magic6 PRO also comes equipped with cameras that use the revamped AI-powered HONOR Falcon Camera and Motion Sensing Capture technology from the Porsche Design smartphones. Here, the AI algorithm predicts and captures decisive moments in ultra-high definition, even while the subject is in motion-sensitive situations such as jumping, dancing, and martial arts. It is integrated in the 180MP Telephoto Camera Lens, 50MP Ultra Wide Camera, and a 50MP main camera with variable aperture capabilities. Borrowing elements from the automotive industry continues since HONOR brings the silicon-carbon battery to Magic6 PRO, so users can watch videos for up to 81 minutes without the smartphone heating up, even with just 10 percent of the battery level remaining, and can achieve a 100 percent charge in only 40 minutes.

Honor’s new magicbook laptop and pad tablet

HONOR’s spotlight during MWC 2024 is on the capabilities of artificial intelligence, and alongside the new Porsche Design smartphones, the brand launches its AI-powered laptop, the HONOR MagicBook Pro 16. While its full specs are underway, what viewers may want to know so far is that it can share and synchronize materials across HONOR smartphones, PCs and tablets to create a singular shared workstation. At MWC 2024, HONOR also released its newest tablet, the HONOR Pad 9, which offers an 12.1-inch 2.5K HONOR FullView Display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an eight-speaker audio system that incorporates HONOR Histen sound tuning technology.
