Car-shaped hybrid electric bike by amara automotive

Meet Elecy, Amara Automotive’s hybrid electric bike that drives around with four wheels and a body shaped like a micro car. Suitable for bike lanes, the vehicle has a fully enclosed frame shaped for low air resistance, so riders need less effort to move forward. The outer shell can reduce the drag because of the curved canopy and its tapered form, which lets the air slide over the vehicle. The full cover also helps riders cruise against harsh weather conditions, a tool that allows the car-shaped hybrid electric bike to be waterproof and suitable for year-round use.

By opening the canopy, the rider can get inside in a sitting position with their legs extended. The position is upright, similar to a car, and the pedals sit in front of the rider rather than below. The Elecy runs on an electric assist system with a removable battery, which can be charged in about three hours. Because it is removable, users can charge it indoors or carry spare batteries for longer journeys, but if it’s not charged, users can just pedal the car-shaped hybrid electric bike. The standard range is around 80 kilometers per charge, depending on battery size, and the electric motor stops assisting at 25 km/h, in line with UK and EU regulations for electric-assist pedal cycles.

Elecy is set to cross around 23 countries in 2026

The car-shaped hybrid electric bike is stable because of the four wheels, unlike two-wheeled bicycles. In this way, Elecy by the startup Amara Automotive can be balanced both at low and high speeds, and even if it has a narrow width, it doesn’t tip. Lighting is fully integrated into the body, featuring the headlights, indicators, rear lights, brake lights, and reflectors, which is a built-in system that makes the car-shaped hybrid electric bike visible at night.

The Elecy offers 300 liters of storage space, which is comparable to several grocery bags. Even when carrying a child in the rear seat, there is space for luggage. As it is legally classified as an electric-assist pedal cycle, the team says it can park where bicycles park. Security features are integrated into the design, with the doors and canopy being lockable. GPS tracking is included. There is also quick access for a standard bike lock, and the team says that maintenance uses standard bicycle parts, making repairs simple. So far, founder Tamara Ivancova is set to take the car-shaped hybrid electric bike for a lap around the world in 2026, crossing 23 countries and over 30,000 kilometers alone and just using the vehicle she and her team have developed.
