boosting the original illy iperespresso system, illy caffé in collaboration with swiss mechanical engineering company gotec have developed the new ‘illy kiss’. the 16cm x 16cm x 21cm compact espresso maker weighs less than 3 kilograms and marries traditional swiss precision with the coffee extraction system. when viewed from above, the machine looks like a watch with three cylinders set on its round base. the main body is made from anodized aluminum, with a glass water tank, stainless steel technical parts and a magnetic cup tray. the all in one piece combines the pump, heating unit, and flow control into the smallest space as possible. this integrated unit is made possible by a spur wheel and a worm screw – the water pressurizing process doesn’t vibrate or make any noise, while the pump heating systems create just enough water to make a cup of espresso. using minimal energy, the desired quantity of coffee and temperature can be programed through the small touch screen.
