karbikes: reshaping the future of zero emission commuting

Karbikes, designed by Christopher Santerre alongside Gaëlle Richard and Lucas Vançon, is an innovative concept reshaping the future of zero emission commuting. The hybrid vehicle, positioned between a cargo bicycle and an electric micro-city car, addresses various transportation needs in urban, peri-urban, and rural settings.

Designed with sustainability, comfort, and efficiency of use in mind, it merges the lightness of bicycles with the comfort of cars, creating a unique and eco-friendly solution for daily travel. Each features a four-wheel design with a sturdy steel frame and an ultra-light aluminum shell, providing protection from wind and rain. Within, two adults or one adult with two children can be easily accommodated at a time.

a more sustainable, efficient, and comfortable ride

Measuring 800mm in width and capable of reaching speeds up to 25km/h, Karbikes offers a practical commuting solution in the city. The company’s co-founders, engineers Gaëlle Richard and Lucas Vançon, integrated an electrically assisted pedaling system which is equipped with automatic gears and a 750Wh battery, ensuring a smooth ride for all. Additionally, a spacious trunk is integrated with a loading capacity of up to 400 liters or 150 kilograms.

Based in Strasbourg, a French city renowned for its extensive cycling network, Karbikes plans to produce its first batch of ten units locally by the end of the year, with gradual production increases aimed at reaching hundreds of units annually.
