kno tablet a go

while we showcase a lot of new digital concepts, very few actually go into production and appear in stores. the kno dual screen tablet, could have been one of these products until it announced this week that it just raised 46 million USD and will release its first model before the end of the year. the investment included funding from marc andresssen, co-founder of netscape.  the kno will be sold for under 1,000 USD, aiming to meet the user needs of students who will be able to purchase and read textbooks through the device. by cutting out the printing of books, students can expect to pay less for their material in the near future. the device is also interactive, allowing users to take notes, draw and access the web.

design-aerobics: tech gadgets course (september 16th – november 16th) designboom is holding an online design course on the topic of ‘tech gadgets’.

we’ll be looking at the design process of popular technological objects, the ways they have evolved and pondering as to what might be around the corner.

  • theres no art applications. what about the kids with an art major? they should take some pointers from the lg touchsmart. they are neglecting an entire school.

  • MUCH MUCH better than ipad, sooooooo much better. I don´t know anything about the Lg touchsmart, but I suppose this kno has some art application. Or it will, eventually… but this is just SO much better than the ipad which, at the end of the day, its only a toy (i-toy).
