koenigsegg agera XS starts the megacar revolution in the US

koenigsegg will once again attend california’s monterey car week during august 2016. last year it brought the world’s first megacar — the limited edition koenigsegg ‘one of 1’ — to monterey. in 2016, the swedish sports car manufacturer will present not one, but two car designs — koenigsegg ‘agera XS’ and ‘regera’ — which will be flown directly from ängelholm for display at both mccall’s motorworks revival, and the quail motorsport gathering.

the ‘megacar’ revolution is about to land on US roads. koenigsegg’s ‘agera RS’ is specifically badged as ‘agera XS’ according to the wishes of its owner, and will be the first koenigsegg ‘agera RS’ in the united states. the car will be one of the most powerful, fully homologated, street legal production cars on american roads boasting a superior power to weight ratio.

instead of the traditional ‘RS’ emblem, the agera features a bespoke ‘XS’ badge

the ‘agera XS’ is presented in ‘karosserie’ orange — an intense finish with diamond-dust metallic effect — and a clear carbon center strip. the interior features black alcantara finishing with orange contrast stitching to match the exterior. the ‘agera XS’ also comes with bespoke aerodynamics, including the largest rear wing ever fitted to a koenigsegg, specifically designed to the owner’s wishes.

twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces 1160 hp

the racer — as with every koenigsegg ever made — has a removable lightweight hardtop that can be detached and/or reattached in minutes and is stored on-board under the front hood. the ‘agera RS’ model is an evolution of the ‘one to 1’ and incorporates much of the technology developed during the creation of the first ever megacar, but with more creature comforts and practicality. it boasts a 5-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine mated to a CIMA 7-speed paddle-shift transmission, with an in-house developed, integrated electronic-differential. despite all of this equipment, the ‘agera RS’ still weighs just 3075 lbs including all fluids, ready to drive.
