the lamborghini ‘asterion LPI 910-4’ is being revealed at the 2014 paris motor show and marks the company’s first plug-in hybrid technology. the power system combines a V10 5.2 naturally aspirated engine with three electric motors to deliver a total of 699 kWh (910 hp). this, as well as the 560 Nm of torque available, enables the supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and to a top speed of 320 km/h. the automobile delivers performance figures that are customary for lamborghini but it is the CO2 emission reducing technologies that makes it stand out from their previous models. for example; it only releases 98 g/km of carbon dioxide, has a fuel consumption of 4.12 1/100 km combined cycle and a 50 km pure electric range.

the ‘asterion’ has a lightweight – 250kg – carbon fiber monocoque with a body featuring defined lines, distinguishing panels and separating planes that reflect the brand’s heritage. as well, the light and shadows that are created by the sculpted forms accentuate its muscular yet slim volume. the blue elektra glittered color sports-car has outwards opening doors that permit easy access to its luxurious bianco celaeno and marrone attis leather interior. this, combined with how the two seats are positioned higher than those in their supercars ensures that the vehicle is comfortable for every day driving. the driver can operate it using the fast shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and has a steering wheel that includes three buttons to chose the engine driving mode: zero – for full electric, I for ‘ibrido’ (hybrid), and T for ‘termico’ (thermal) power. this displays how the ‘asterion LPI 910-4’ incorporates the latest CO2 reducing engineering expertise with their extravagant style of design and still delivers with high performance figures.

‘lamborghini is always looking ahead, investing in new technologies and setting new benchmarks, delivering the unexpected,’ says stephan winkelmann, president and CEO of automobili lamborghini.

‘lamborghini continues to focus on weight reduction as a means to reducing CO2, for example through the investment in carbon fiber engineering, which also contributes to our quest for the best super sports car handling and performance. to significantly reduce emissions on a car in this moment however, plug-in electrification is the best option for us, because for lamborghini such a car must still provide a truly emotional driving experience. in the asterion this is guaranteed through a naturally aspirated engine that is combined with PHEV technology, which not only offers exceptionally low CO2 emissions of 98 g/km, but a practical pure electric driving range of 50 km.’ he continues to say, ‘the asterion LPI 910-4 is a true lamborghini: emotional, with a stunning design, powerful, yet conceived more for comfortable luxury daily cruising than for ultimate track performance.’

  • Such a stunningly beautiful automobile. The interior is definitely not meant to be in this amazing machine.
It looks like it could be lifted out of an automobile from the 80’s. The interior is truly tragic. How was this allowed to happen???????????
