Lenovo unveils its new concept ThinkBook during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, which may just be the world’s first transparent display laptop with a see-through and detachable keyboard. It comes with a 17.3-inch Micro-LED and borderless screen, and no more bezels for the concept ThinkBook as the entire transparent display takes over the laptop’s bodies. Below the see-through keyboard, the only visible surface is the footpad design, which makes the letters and keys seemingly float above it. Because it is also a screen, the see-through keyboard removes the tactile feel of the keys being pressed, replaced by a smooth surface and the feel of tapping onto a glass. These features can be viewed at MWC 2024 in Barcelona, which runs until February 29th, 2024.

The dubbed world’s first transparent display laptop has a see-through and detachable keyboard that doubles as a drawing board, as seen at MWC 2024 in Barcelona during the unveiling. The unit comes with a supported pen, and the display keyboard disappears when users toggle it off to turn on the drawing board capabilities. Since the world’s first transparent display laptop features Micro-LED technology, Lenovo says its high color saturation and contrast with 1000 nit screen brightness allow for optimal visibility both indoors and outdoors, so users can use it anytime, anywhere, without straining their eyes.

Lenovo employs Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) for its concept ThinkBook. The world’s first transparent display laptop with a see-through and detachable keyboard is also based on projection, or projected images and display, so removing the keyboard is not a problem. Lenovo adds that its AIGC enables interaction with physical objects and overlaying digital information, and this transparency in the screen makes the laptop seemingly ideal for any surroundings it is in, given its high contrast that can battle the extreme-lighting’s glare. As of publishing the story, Lenovo’s world’s first transparent display laptop with a see-through and detachable keyboard for its ThinkBook model is still a concept, and the brand has yet to reveal its plans for producing this model.
