LG electronics has officially taken the wraps off the LG ‘G flex’, a vertically curved smartphone that follows the contour of the faceplate – the first device to do so in the smartphone market. the arc-like design reduces the distance between mouth and microphone when the screen is held against the ear – as traditional telephone handsets once did. the curve is optimized for the average face to deliver improved voice and sound quality. the ‘G flex’ features a flexible 6.0 inch plastic OLED (POLED) display and integrates a unique curved battery technology. powered by a 2.26 ghz quad-core qualcomm processor with 2GB of RAM, the cellphone also includes a 13.0 megapixel front facing and 2.1 megapixel rear facing camera.

among the several new technologies, the smartphone is the first to apply a ‘self healing’ finish on the back cover. the elastic coating has the ability to recover from the daily wear-and-tear, scratches and nicks that un-cased smartphones are likely to receive.
