swedish pop singer robyn collaborated with designer lucy mcrae for a fluid textile costume is her recent music video, ‘indestructible’. mcrae has been working on dynamic textiles made from liquid, air and vapor for over two years. for this video, she developed a special costume made from 1.2 kilometers of transparent plastic tubing. the tubes were knitted tougher and fastened to robyn during the shoot. ‘40 liters of glycerol pumps through over a kilometer of tube, powered by drill pumps that connect to valves releasing air intermittently between the liquid. gradient colors pulse through the tubes at different speeds, the effect is a living, breathing dynamic skin that traverses the landscape of the body.’ watch the making of video below, as well as the final music video.
