mario kart invades google maps this week and here's how you can play

to honour one of nintendo‘s most beloved and iconic characters, the video game company has partnered with google to add a feature to their map services, allowing users to navigate the mean streets as the italian plumber himself. ahead of the imminent mobile release of the much-loved mario kart, the fun promotional transforms your navigation into mario and his kart, helping you steer to your destination.

don’t get to excited though as you won’t be able to hurl red shells at other drivers, take mushrooms for speed or feel that strange adrenaline-type of fear falling off a rainbow road. it’s still cool enough to want to see though so here’s how…

  1. make sure your google maps app is up to date
  2. load up google maps and enter a destination
  3. instead of pressing start press the yellow ‘?’ icon. mario enters and is yours to navigate
  4. bonus info: press the yellow ‘?’ 100 times to hear it make the 1-up sound from the super mario bros games

a new mobile mario kart game is scheduled to be released in march 2019, according to nintendo of america
