located at the newly opened mazda design space in the brera design district, the mazda ‘ KODO – soul of motion’ collection emulates the dynamic beauty of wild animals’ movement. showcased during the 2015 milan design week, the striking line-up, a bike and sofa, combines the automotive brand’s philosophy with the tradition of creating functionally stunning objects. embodying the ‘less is more’ philosophy of japanese art and craft, the bike is a pure reinterpretation of a modern racing bicycle, evoking lightness, agility and speed.

the two-wheeler’s frame form evokes the effortless and powerful movement of wild animals

the sofa by milan-based creative designers setsu and shinobu ito, fuses the car company’s aesthetic sensibility with old-world craftsmanship. as well, the exhibition displays KODO-influenced works by artisans, including the copperwear creation ‘KODOKI’ by gyokusendo studio and shiraito, and a lacquered box using crush eggshells made by kinjo-ikkokusai.

the bike and sofa were on display with the all-new mazda CX-3 and MX-5
