at the 2016 new york auto show, mazda took its flagship ‘MX-5’ sports car and added a fresh dimension of open-top driving with a functional automated retractable hardtop. featuring fastback styling with a smooth roofline that slopes down to the rear, the car’s unique rear roof and retractable back window deliver a distinctive convertible feeling. the roof opens and closes with the press of a button, while moving at speeds of up to 10 km/h and stows away compactly. interestingly enough, the ‘MX-5 RF’ still offers the same amount of trunk space as the other models. the refreshed drop-top will come with either a 1.5 liter or 2.0 liter ‘skyactiv-G’ engine paired with six-speed gearbox or exclusively to the mazda ‘MX-5 RF’ — a six speed automatic.
