mclaren 600LT spider adds retractable roof with its vertical exhausts

with aggressive power, styling and even vertical exhausts, the ‘600LT’ coupe was always going to be difficult to follow up. however, with the ‘600LT spider’ and its retractable hardtop, mclaren has achieved just that. as only the fifth model to carry the longtail name, the car continues its philosophy of increased power, reduced weight, optimized aerodynamics, track-focused dynamics and limited availability. its new convertible feature, which can lower or rise at a push of a button, adds excitement without any compromise. it delivers an even more memorable experience with its top-exit exhausts loud and clear for the driver and passenger to hear.

with a twin-turbcharged, 3.8-liter V8 engine, the mclaren ‘600LT spider’ is tuned for more power. it produces 592hp and 620nm, which races it from 0 to 60mph (100km/H0 in just 2.9s. it reaches 124mph (200km/h) in 8.4 seconds and onwards to a max speed of 201mph (324km/h).

with all this power yet now without a roof, the supercar enhances a lightweight but strong carbon fiber chassis to improve structural rigidity. it also helps deliver a 100kg reduction in weight when compared to the ‘570S spider’. the exterior design is still as focused as the coupe version, where a carbon fiber bodywork and fixed rear wing creates an aggressive styling as well as aerodynamics. supported by a double-wishbone suspension system, these design details ensure ultra-precise, track-focused handling for drivers.

inside, the cockpit has been designed purely for performance. this focus places carbon fiber racing seats as standard, which are upholstered in a lightweight alcantara trim.
