forged in carbon fiber, new mclaren 750S supercar swiftly sprints with twin-turbocharged V8

A supercar for the purist

McLaren 750S carbon fiber supercar makes its entrance as the brand’s lightest and most powerful series production to date. The hyper vehicle packs a distinctive car design, a refinement of its predecessor 720s, through its new lower nose section with an extended front splitter and a narrower eye socket intake that encloses the headlights. When viewed from above, McLaren 750s coupe embraces a teardrop shape that slopes down into a low-vehicle design.

The new V8-powered, rear-wheel drive 750S, which comes in coupe and convertible body types, is a supercar for the purist. It combines fine-tuned weight-saving, powertrain performance, aerodynamics, and dynamic brilliance to take a benchmark driving experience to new heights. It was designed and built after a thorough examination of the famed and its predecessor McLaren 720S, with almost 30% of the 750S’s components being either new or altered.

McLaren 750s, which weighs just 1389 kilos, is equipped with a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine, harnessing a power of 740bhp and torque of 590 lb-ft that allows for ferocious performance. With the 750S, the super coupe is capable of 0 to 60mph in 2.7 seconds and 0 to 124mph in 7.2 seconds. The 750S’s gearshift and gearbox hardware have also been uprated, delivering a 15 percent shorter final drive ratio and recalibrated shifting to make the in-gear acceleration 10 percent quicker.

‘When you have a car recognized by so many drivers as a benchmark, to do something even better you have to examine every detail and really push hard for improvements that raise the bar again. This is what we have done with the new 750S and the lightweight, V8 engine performance and outstanding dynamic abilities combine to deliver a supercar driving experience that hits new heights, with truly exhilarating levels of emotional connection,’ says Michael Leiters, CEO, McLaren Automotive.

McLaren Control Launcher debuts in the new supercar

The 750S  was created with an emphasis on lightening elements up, from its Retractable Hard Top (RHT) and rollover protection system to its custom carbon fiber rear upper structure. As a result, the new 750s coupe, even at its lowest dry weight of 2,923 pounds, leads in terms of power-to-weight with 558 bhp-per-ton (bhp). McLaren states that this is 425 pounds lighter than its closest competitor and delivers a power-to-weight advantage of 22bhp.

The interior of the 750S fuses technology with exquisite materials as new displays – both for information and instruments – show up. This driver-centric display has the controls to select Powertrain and Handling modes, and the McLaren Control Launcher (MCL) debuts in 750S which allows the driver to personalize their driving experience with aero, handling, powertrain, and transmission settings that can be activated with a push of the MCL button.
