german luxury automaker mercedes-benz has announced their partnership with pebble technology ahead of CES 2014 in las vegas, positioning themselves ahead of the pack by embracing ‘the internet of things’ and fully networked and connected cars. developed to support enhanced vehicle diagnostic awareness and multi-sensory notifications, the wearable device seamlessly integrates with mercedes-benz’s digital drivestyle app, allowing it to communicate with pebble smart watches remotely. when away from the vehicle, the pebble smartwatch will enable users to access information regarding fuel level, door-lock status, and vehicle location.

while driving, the connected-timepiece transforms into a real-time data center, alerting the driver with hazards through vehicle to vehicle (V2V) technology like accidents, road construction, or stalled vehicles with vibrations. in addition, users pairing their pebble smartwatch via bluetooth can customize the three watch buttons to activate their favorite digital drivestyle features like reporting hazards, auto-routing, siri activation, remote-controlling media, or quickly showing nearby traffic conditions.
