mercedes-maybach EQS 680 SUV has arrived, marking the brand's first all-electric vehicle

An all-electric, full-size luxury SUV

Long-standing car brands are shifting their gears to generating all-electric cars under their belt. Mercedes-Benz hits the electrifying target as it recently rolls in Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV, the flux between the technology of the EQS SUV from Mercedes-EQ and the exclusive car design of Maybach.

The company says it follows in the footsteps of Karl Maybach’s maxim: ‘What is good must also be beautiful.’ The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV inaugurates a new standard in the top-end luxury all-electric SUV category by bringing in its depiction of sophisticated elegance.

‘The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is our first all-electric, full-size luxury SUV. At Mercedes-Maybach we strive to add the shine of the extraordinary to the beautiful,’ says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Mercedes-Benz Group AG. ‘Together with the innovative, progressive SUV proportions, we are completely redefining the SUV luxury of the future.’

Wagener adds thatthe interior is an emotional and stylish statement, and the lounge character promises luxurious travel at the highest level.’ Glancing at the specs, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV has an output of 484 kW, a range of up to 600 kilometers (a provisional figure), and has 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

two-tone paint job, all applied by hand

From the get-go, Mercedes-Benz stakes a status claim, a gift to whoever drives Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV. The front is distinguished by the brand’s signature black panel with vertical trim strips made of chrome plating for a 3D depth effect. The enormous black panel here is smoothly closed, a first for Mercedes-Benz. Radar sensor technology has been fully integrated and hides from the viewers’ plain sight, and the bumper’s air inlet occupies filigree slats that are chrome-plated.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV comes equipped with 21 or 22-inch alloy and forged wheels, and the intricately crafted integrated wheel hub caps bear the MAYBACH lettering. The standard running boards illuminate at night, luring in more attention, and the pinstripe appearance of the black panel front is underscored by the anodized aluminum treads.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV embraces a distinctive design that features the brand’s customary two-tone paint job with a filigree pinstripe. It comes in five color combinations, all applied by hand: high-tech silver/obsidian black, high-tech silver/nautical blue, obsidian black/selenite grey, obsidian black/kalahari gold, and velvet brown/onyx black.

mercedes-maybach EQS 680 SUV exudes luxury

Inside the full-sized SUV, Mercedes-Benz demonstrates its luxury claim. Well-crafted natural materials provide an elegant counterpart to the tech-infused features of the SUV. Maybach Exclusive Nappa leather in the warm shades of espresso brown/balao brown pearl is standard on the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, with macchiato beige/bronze brown pearl and crystal white/silver grey pearl being optionally available.

The standard MBUX Hyperscreen with the familiar home screen on the center display is a highlight for the front passengers. The navigation map takes over the core of the equipment, and the driver can perform 80 percent of the most common interactions directly without changing the application. The system personalizes its responses based on the current scenario and makes situation-based comments and offers.

Two 11.6-inch monitors are mounted on the backrests of the front seats, providing the rear passengers with the same broad range of entertainment and comfort functions as the driver and passenger in front. From the back seats, passengers may choose and change the navigational destinations, and the rear tablet can also be detached and used outside of the vehicle. Through the tablets’ cameras, they can identify the passengers’ demands from their hand gestures and perform the necessary actions, such as turning on the reading lights.

Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management Mercedes-Benz Group AG, says that Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV aims to exceed its clients’ high expectations. ‘The Mercedes‑Maybach EQS SUV unites our ambition to lead in digital and electric with our focus on the luxury segment. The very first all-electric vehicle from Mercedes-Maybach complements the best technologies from Mercedes‑Benz with the extra comfort and individual details that are only available from Mercedes‑Maybach,’ he says.

By the looks of it, not only does Mercedes-Benz sets a new milestone in its history, but has managed to redefine its essence of automotive excellence in the age of electromobility.
